Russian express operator Pony Express has expanded the geographical coverage of its weekend delivery service from online shops to private individuals and has launched a new solution for “especially valuable shipments”.
The company now delivers online orders from internet shops seven days a week from 9 am to 9 pm in 32 major Russian cities. These include Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara and Voronezh, Orenburg, Perm, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Kaliningrad, Izhevsk, Togliatti, Saratov, Ulyanovsk, Volgograd, Stavropol, Krasnodar, Pyatigorsk, Barnaul, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Tula, Bryansk, Lipetsk.
Previously, the weekend delivery service was only available in Moscow and its metropolitan area. In 2016, Pony Express aims to further expand the geographical coverage of the weekend delivery service for its partners operating in the e-commerce segment.
Margarita Tarasova, Marketing Director at Pony Express, said: “Delivery on the weekends is now in high demand by our partner online-shops. E-commerce is developing actively and is a major growth driver for the logistics industry. Our aim is to fully satisfy the needs of our customers in terms of integrated logistics solutions. Therefore, when our partner internet stores started expanding in the regions, we have followed them to provide the necessary services throughout the country.”
Separately, Pony Express started delivering jewellery and other expensive goods for individuals and legal entities as part of its new solution “especially valuable cargo”. The valuable goods include items made of precious metals and stones, watches and premium electronics, among others.
The service is available to manufacturers and sellers in 12,000 locations of the Russian Federation and also for deliveries from Russia to Kazakhstan. The delivery time takes at least one working day.
The valuable shipments are processed at specially equipped premises of the Pony Express terminals. For these products, the company has allocated a special area with limited access and additional video control.
The transportation of goods is carried out in special packaging with a protection system. All valuable shipments have insurance and, if necessary, their receipt and delivery are accompanied by armed guards.
Tarasova added: “The special solution for the delivery of high-value goods is today in demand by manufacturers and sellers of expensive goods. In addition, our service will make purchasing expensive goods more convenient for customers of online shops. Now they can get a particularly valuable order as express delivery to their home.”
