FedEx enhances Korea services

FedEx Express has unveiled plans to expand and enhance its services in South Korea which include the extension of cut-off times and the improvement of transit times in six major cities – Busan Gwangju, Daejon, Cheongju, Asan, and Gimhae – in order to provide better connections and convenience for small and medium-sized businesses (SME).

It will also offer improved access for customers through its team members directly serving areas in Busan, Gwangju, Daegu, Sejong, Sacheon, Cheonan, Asan, Anseong, Gwangyang, Jinju, Chungju, Pyeongtaek, Jecheon, Wonju, Icheon, Yongin, Hwaseong, Changwon, and Cheongju.

“At FedEx, we continue to enhance our services to meet customers’ changing needs. We have accelerated service improvements, innovation and expanded our network to make it easier and more convenient for our customers to connect to new markets,” explained Eun-Mi Chae, managing director, FedEx Express Korea.

“With service enhancements in 21 cities nationwide, a greater number of Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will have improved connections to the FedEx global network including better access to logistics expertise from our team, who can offer support and guidance in growing their business”, she added.

In July 2018, FedEx launched a B757 flight from its Asia-Pacific Hub in Guangzhou, China to Hanoi, Vietnam. This offers South Korea importers and exporters next-day delivery to and from Hanoi, one business day faster than previously.

In May this year, rival UPS announced improved services for five cities in Korea as well as expanded capacity at its Incheon facility to speed up shipments to and from the dynamic Asian economy. The company has expanded its facility at Incheon International Airport, offering customers larger warehousing capacity to support growing import and export demands. The new facility will feature over 770 square meters of warehouse space; three times larger than its previous size.

At the start of 2018, DHL announced the expansion of its Incheon and Pohang Service Centers to better handle the increased import and export shipment volume in each region. The two facilities have more than doubled and tripled in size respectively.
