CTT doubles 11.11 delivery volumes to 300,000 parcels with AliExpress partnership

More Chinese parcels for CTT

CTT – Correios de Portugal has delivered about 300,000 parcels to Portuguese online shoppers who snapped up bargains during the recent Chinese 11.11 Singles Day shopping festival, doubling last year’s volumes largely thanks to a new partnership with AliExpress.

The postal operator teamed up with the international e-commerce company in an exclusive promotional campaign for the AliExpress Shopping Festival as part of Alibaba Group’s global sales event on November 11. CTT promoted discounts for AliExpress orders sent to Portugal through CTT’s ePacket service, which is provided in cooperation with China Post.

Alberto Pimenta, CTT's E-Commerce Director, declared: "The volume of orders obtained through this partnership between CTT – Correios de Portugal and AliExpress confirms that the Portuguese are increasingly ready to buy online and that have confidence in e-commerce, especially if brands that inspire confidence are involved.”

“Partnerships like this (with AliExpress) and like the one we signed with China Post, and all the solutions we have developed recently to meet consumer needs are important steps in this direction,” he continued.

E-commerce has strong growth potential in the country, given that only about 36% of Portuguese citizens buy goods online at present, Pimenta pointed out. CTT is developing its e-commerce activities through diverse partnerships and support for local start-ups.
