SEUR will invest €15 million in a new logistics centre in northern Spain that it hopes will help fuel continued international growth.
The Spanish parcels carrier plans to open a 15,000 sqm regional sorting centre in the town of Miranda de Ebro, near the city of Burgos, in June 2020. The facility will have capacity to handle up to 60,000 packages, both domestic and international, a day and could create up to 200 jobs in the medium-term. The Miranda de Ebro centre will become one of two SEUR centres handling international shipments, the other being in Barcelona.
Juan Pérez de Lema, Director of Operations, explained: "This operation is part of the company's investment plan that aims to improve operations and our structures to provide a better service to all our customers.
“In addition, the new centre of Miranda will give a very important boost to our international business through which we made 7 million shipments in export and 6 million in import in 2018, and in which we hope to continue growing thanks also to this new centre,” he added.
SEUR delivered more than 110 million packages in 2017, which represented a 5% increase compared to the previous year, and increased turnover by 4% to €660 million.
