Zalando launches free express deliveries in France

European fashion retailer Zalando is speeding up deliveries to French customers by launching its loyalty scheme in the country.

The German-based company has extended its membership program, Zalando Plus, which offers various premium services including ‘unlimited free 1-2 day express home delivery’, to France. It is initially available to selected customers in the Paris area for a promotional yearly membership fee of €9.95 and will be expanded to more customers at a later date.

Zalando Plus members benefit from unlimited free 1-2 day express delivery to their homes, free standard delivery as well as special offers and discounts, the fashion retailer said.

According to the Zalando.fr website, the company’s delivery partners in France are La Poste’s local delivery businesses Colissimo and Chronopost as well as DHL Express.

In addition, Zalando Plus members “are notified before everyone else when sold-out products in their size are back in stock or their favourite items saved in their wishlist are discounted”. Finally, members get a faster and more personalized experience when contacting customer care, according to the fashion retailer.

Riccardo Vola, Director of Southern Europe and Gift Cards at Zalando, explained: “As one of the biggest fashion markets in Europe, France is important in order for Zalando to achieve the company’s ambition of becoming The Starting Point for Fashion.”

He continued: “That is why we have expanded our convenience services for French customers. Whether you shop with us from time to time or do most of your fashion shopping on Zalando, we want to offer an experience that matches your individual needs. With Zalando Plus, we are deepening the relationship with our customers by offering a tailor-made experience based on their needs, making shopping at Zalando effortless.”

Zalando claimed that it has “always focused on providing the best customer experience”. In 2008, it “revolutionised” online shopping by introducing free delivery and returns up to 100 days. Trying on goods at home from a selection of more than 450,000 fashion items through free shipping and convenient returns has been an integral part of the offering ever since.

In France, Zalando has added exclusive services in order to best meet the requirements of its French consumers. The payment method "Try First, Pay Later" enables customers to try on purchases directly at home and pay only for items they keep, and free mailbox return makes it easy to return items directly in the customer’s own mailbox.
