German night express firm seeks land for growth

Night Star Express is expanding in the Leipzig/Halle region with a new 2,000 sqm facility and is urgently looking for new locations across Germany as part of nationwide expansion plans.

The new location in Kabelsketal (Saxony-Anhalt) is strategically and conveniently located near the A9 / A14 motorway junction and therefore not far from the previous location in Krostitz.

Matthias Hohmann, Managing Director of Night Star Express, explained: “The expansion of the location had been planned for a long time and was urgently needed. In the past few months we have gained many customers who have a large shipping volume.”

He added: “We have been looking for larger premises all over Germany that meet our requirements. Unfortunately, the search is not so easy. We are all the more delighted to be moving into the new terminal system in Kabelsketal.”

Kai Michalik, depot manager for the Kabelsketal and Klipphausen sites, said: “The decision was made in the middle of last year. We were still able to handle the shipping volumes in the old location, but we have optimal conditions in the new terminal.”

Meanwhile, Night Star Express, which operates across Europe, is still seeking larger locations in every region of Germany.

Hohmann said the night express specialist needs facilities close to customers and where it can respond quickly to changes in operating conditions.

“We collect our customers' goods the evening before or in the afternoon and deliver them by 8 a.m. at the latest. If you offer such a fast service, you sometimes have to react to changes in traffic routing or the amount of consignments at night or the day before,” he explained.

Night Star Express is an alliance of six logistics partners. The location in Kabelsketal is operated by the founding member Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
