SwipBox to install a parcel locker network for Greek e-commerce platform Skroutz

Skroutz last-mile delivery

Danish parcel locker provider SwipBox has teamed up with Skroutz, the biggest e-commerce platform in Greece, to install a nationwide network of battery-powered Infinity parcel lockers.

The first parcel lockers, which are already live and ready to use, were installed in March, primarily in Athens, and will be used to gain feedback for the next stage of the nationwide rollout. The parcel lockers will be placed in convenient locations for end-users such as housing estates, petrol stations, shopping centres etc.

Skroutz supports the full customer journey. This means that in addition to operating the e-commerce platform, it also delivers the orders to customers using its own delivery fleet.

Stefanos Katsimpas, Business Director at Skroutz Last Mile, said: “We believe that the Skroutz Point offering will help us scale our courier service while maintaining a robust customer experience with high NPS scores. Scaling a locker network is a complex operational procedure and we believe that SwipBox’s Infinity product will help minimise installation effort and scale even faster.”

For SwipBox, Skroutz is a new type of business partner as it normally cooperates with carriers rather than retailers. Skroutz combines both activities, with the collaboration and the type of setup being a natural next step for SwipBox.

“Our partnership with Skroutz shows that there is room in the market for new initiatives and new ways of thinking first and last mile solutions. SwipBox is a tech company that delivers to the whole value chain, and we are happy to do this with such an innovative thinking partner as Skroutz Last Mile,” Nicki Schousboe, Senior Sales Manager at SwipBox, said.

SwipBox’s innovative Bluetooth Infinity lockers are app-operated and run on batteries. This makes them easy and fast to install as there is no need for an external power supply or an instant internet connection.

SwipBox described 2021 as a “remarkable year” for its business. The company installed more than 10,000 lockers worldwide and in addition to tripling its installed network, it has doubled the number of customers using its solutions. To date, the company has lockers in 47 countries and has installed nearly 184,000 compartments worldwide.

In 2021, Swipbox announced several key contracts including in Israel with ORIAN, which is part of the DB Schenker network. This project will see the nationwide rollout of SwipBox’s Infinity lockers in 2022. SwipBox has also worked with Finland’s Lehtipiste to expand its parcel locker network to more than 2,400 parcel lockers across 600 locations.
