Prime Vision launches new Smart Store solution for easier parcel tracking

Dutch technology company Prime Vision has announced the launch of a new solution, which helps retailers and postal firms visualize the vast amounts of data gathered on parcel flows for better supply chain tracking.

The new Smart Store solution, which according to Prime Vision is already being used by a “substantial number of retailers,” makes the most of the data gathered as a result of the digitalization of supply chains.

This system centralizes images and metadata for easy analysis, allowing customers to follow their assets through their supply chains, leverage evidence for damaged goods, and cut the time to improve business-critical AI models.

Easy tracking

Prime Vision noted that one of the benefits of the new system is that retailers with a pickup point can see an image of a parcel on their screen, making it easier for them to find it in the backroom. They no longer rely on a name or house number alone. In addition, thanks to the image, it is immediately clear if a parcel has been damaged somewhere along the way.

Smart Store can process several millions of images and metadata per day. Its embedded https-encryption and state-of-the-art authentication and authorization frameworks make sure that high security demands are met. Furthermore, its microservices architecture allows the system to grow with the customer.

Further use cases for Smart Store have appeared, according to Prime Vision, such as having the delivery person take and upload a picture as proof-of-delivery. The end customer in turn can see the picture on their mobile phone, so it’s clear where the package is and what condition it is in at the time of delivery.

Award nomination

Meanwhile, Smart Store has been shortlisted in the Sorting and Fulfilment Technology of the Year category in the Parcel and Postal Technology International Awards. The results will be announced at Parcel + Post Expo on Tuesday, October 18, in Frankfurt, Germany.
