SwipBox ships 40,000th parcel locker as firm’s global expansion continues

Swipbox rolls out 40,000th locker

Danish firm SwipBox has shipped its 40,000th parcel locker, cementing its position in the global parcel locker market and marking a key milestone in its worldwide expansion program.

The firm credited its success to its “innovative” battery driven Infinity locker, enabling locker networks to be scaled quickly as it can be deployed anywhere in just 10 minutes.

“We created Infinity to provide convenience in nationwide networks all over the world and are proud to have innovative partners on board who are often front runners in the parcel delivery field,” said SwipBox CEO Jens Rom. “Thanks to them, Infinity continues to provide convenience in an increasing number of countries.”

Rom is confident that Infinity will remain an attractive locker for years to come because of its low total cost of ownership and ease of use.

Global expansion

While SwipBox was initially a large player in the Nordics, recent rollouts in Southern Europe and interested stakeholders in North and South America, have highlighted the global appeal of the company’s products.

In recent years Swipbox has seen its lockers put to use in Greece, Norway, Romania, Israel, and Finland. The firm also has plans to conquer the US locker market. Speaking to CEP-Research earlier this year SwipBox CCO Kasper Cort said: “Parcel lockers are still a rare sight in the US. However, once consumers realise their convenience and safety, parcel lockers will no doubt become a popular choice.

Commenting on the sales potential, he continued: “The US is a different market from the European ones we know so well. However, many of these markets were in the same position as the US when we entered them. In other words, we know what it requires to successfully introduce a new type of parcel delivery and pickup solution to carriers, couriers and consumers alike, always with the specific market and culture in mind.”

Customer experience

Alongside network expansion, Swipbox is also focusing on developing its customer service offering. In February of this year, for example, the firm announced the launch of a new service, which enables its customers to lease, rather than buy, its Infinity parcel lockers.

And in late 2022, SwipBox launched a new 10-year battery guarantee for all new lockers delivered from November 2022 onwards. Existing lockers already deployed are not covered by the guarantee.

The company is also placing an increased focus on AI tools, intelligent label solutions and new parcel locker configurations based on market requests.

“Without this enterprising strategy, we wouldn’t have just sent parcel locker number 40,000 out of the door – a number we’re extremely proud of. Just try to visualise it: Stacked on top of each other, that would be like nine Mount Everests. Thankfully our journey has been much less strenuous than making that climb, not least because of our close partnerships and dedicated colleagues,” Rom concluded.
