Vanderlande to supply automated fulfilment solution to Kappahl Group

Vanderlande will install its Fastpick solution at Kappahl’s new logistics centre

Logistics automation firm Vanderlande has announced a new contract with Kappahl Group, a fashion retailer in the Nordics, which will see it supply an automated goods-to-person order fulfilment system to help Kappahl increase capacity and improve service levels.

Vanderlande will install its Fastpick solution at Kappahl’s new logistics centre in the greater Gothenburg area in Sweden. The 34,000 sqm facility, which is part of the fashion firm’s strategy to modernise its logistics operations and manage business growth, is expected to go live in June 2026.

According to Vanderlande, the Fastpick solution will help Kappahl increase capacity and provides the opportunity to scale up in the future. The new logistics hub will also improve service levels for Kappahl’s online customer base across Europe and Asia, as well as its network of 330 stores located in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland and UK.

The technology

Vanderlande’s Fastpick solution includes its Adapto automated storage and retrieval system. In the new Kappahl facility, 159 Adapto shuttles will access 86,000 storage locations across 28 aisles, before moving items to 16 ergonomic goods-to-person picking stations.

An inbound and outbound High Dynamic Storage buffer system is also included in the design. Products arriving on a hanger will be handled by Vanderlande’s Airtrax system. Goods will leave the logistics centre via retail and e-commerce shipping sorters in totes, polybags or cartons.

Growth ambitions

“Vanderlande’s solution will provide the efficiency and capacity we need to fulfil our growth ambitions,” said Eva Meding, Logistics Manager at Kappahl Group. “In addition, we will be in a position to deliver an even better level of service for our customers and stores as we improve our sustainable logistics flow.”

James Cotton, Vanderlande’s Executive Managing Director for Warehouse Solutions, added: “We are excited to embark on this new partnership with Kappahl Group. The solid relationship we’ve established with their team has been key in delivering an optimal solution, and we’re committed to supporting their continued success.”
