Bloq.it software to power Locker Italia open parcel locker network

Bloq.it, Lockeritalia

Portugal-based parcel locker technology newcomer Bloq.it has been chosen by Poste Italiane and DHL eCommerce to power their new joint venture, Locker Italia, using the Bloq.OS carrier agnostic software suite.

Thanks to the use of Bloq.it software, Locker Italia will be an open network meaning any carrier can use it, “offering maximum convenience to shippers and recipients,” Bloq.it noted.

DHL eCommerce and Poste Italiane announced the launch of Locker Italia earlier this month. The joint venture will stretch across Italy and reach 10,000 locations “in the near future” to become the leading locker provider in the Italian market, the firms confirmed.

The first locker installed under the Locker Italia brand was deployed earlier this month in Rome. According to Massimo Rosini, Head of Mail, Parcel and Distribution, Poste Italiane Group:,“Locker Italia represents technological innovation, security, nationwide service and sustainability.”

DHL/Bloq.it partnership

The Locker Italia deal builds on Bloq.it’s successful collaboration with DHL eCommerce, which started in 2023 with the agreement for Bloq.OS to be integrated in thousands of existing lockers across Europe.

According to the firm, the project showcased the software’s scalability and reliability, quickly becoming the preferred solution for large smart locker networks. “This collaboration with Locker Italia will help lay the foundations for a continued and ambitious plan for expansion into Italy,” Bloq.it noted.

Bloq.it CEO Miha Jagodic, added: “This is yet another big step in the right direction. Powering these 10,000 lockers confirms the inevitable: that our Bloq.OS is prepared for any project of any scale.”

Bloq.it’s growth plans

Founded in 2019, Bloq.it has ambitious growth plans including expanding geographically and adding new customers after sealing milestone European deals with Vinted and DHL. The firm has positioned itself as a universal software provider for existing locker networks anda s a hardware provider amid surging demand for out-of-home delivery solutions in many countries,

Speaking exclusively to CEP-Research earlier this year, Jagodic said: “Our primary goal is to work with at least one big new partner every year… Our ambition is to become the biggest smart locker provider in the world per revenue per unit sold and to retain our position as the best software solution.”
