Carrier agnostic parcel locker provider myflexbox has hit a key milestone with the roll out of its 400th parcel station in Germany, taking the total number of stations in its network to 1,000, while the company continues to expand thanks to new partnerships with DHL Express and luggage storage firm Stasher.
The company’s 1,000th parcel station was deployed in Leipzig, Germany. Alongside 400 lockers in Germany, myflexbox also has 600 locations in Austria. In terms of locker compartments, there are now more than 43,000 available in more than 100 Austrian cities, while there are around 30,000 in more than 80 German cities.
The myflexbox network is carrier agnostic meaning any parcel carrier can use it. Today, the company’s customers include DPD Austria, DHL Express, UPS, GLS Austria, FedEx, and, most recently, Austrian Post.
Growth path
Since myflexbox was founded in 2018 the company has grown rapidly, extending its presence across Germany and Austria and adding new partners to its agnostic network.
The firm noted that it “remains on a strong growth path,” with the aim of rolling out lockers in cities and municipalities and at housing associations, petrol stations, retailers and many more locations, to help reduce delivery traffic and save CO2 emissions in the first and last mile.
“The focus is on further densifying the network in order to further reduce the walking distance to the place of residence,” the company noted. “The more parcel stations there are within slipper distance, the more often the car is left at home.”
DHL Express partnership
As part of its growth plans, myflexbox recently strengthened its partnership with DHL Express, which first began using the myflexbox lockers for B2C services in Austria in 2021. As part of this partnership, DHL Express parcels could be redirected to a myflexbox locker on the delivery day when recipients were not at home for collection at a time of their convenience.
Now, DHL Express has signed a new deal with myflexbox, which will enable the carrier’s customers to receive and return shipments at 600 locations throughout Austria.
“For DHL, customer satisfaction is at the heart of our daily work,” said Ralf Schweighöfer, CEO of DHL Express Austria. “We strive to maintain our high standards and attach great importance to providing our customers with consistently first-class service and making shipment delivery as pleasant as possible. Our strengthening of our cooperation with myflexbox is a logical step to optimize our customers’ shipping and receiving options.”
Stasher partnership
Myflexbox has also signed a new partnership with luggage storage platform Stasher, which will see the agnostic lockers used by travellers to safely store their luggage in various urban locations in the DACH region.
To use the service, travellers log on to the Stasher platform to search, book and pay for the lockers online. They then drop their luggage off at their chosen myflexbox location. When it’s time to collect luggage, travellers simply return to the locker and enter their details for a quick, contactless pickup.
“This partnership with Stasher is a great fit for our agnostic network,” said Jonathan Grothaus, Co-CEO and Founder of myflexbox. “We both want to offer innovative and flexible storage solutions that are geared towards the needs of modern users.
“Our main focus remains last-mile delivery and pickup of packages, but this exciting new partnership complements the new use cases we have introduced, such as device exchange with Deutsche Telekom and the revolutionary overnight delivery service with e-commerce specialist Alza,” Grothaus added.
