Weak demand hits Posti Q4 results

Posti Group CEO Antti Jääskeläinen

Posti improved its full-year profits in 2024 even though low demand in the peak season impacted results for the final quarter, but the Finnish postal group is staying cautious for this year.

The group’s net sales decreased by 6.1% to €403.6 million in October – December 2024 amid low consumer and customer demand in all segments, and operating profits dropped to €19.2 million from €31 million in the same period of the previous year, leaving a profit margin of 4.8% of net sales.

A key factor was a 2% fall in parcel volumes in the eCommerce and Delivery Services segment while the decline in addressed letter volumes accelerated to -18% (vs -12% one year earlier).

In contrast, Posti closed 2024 with a full-year operating profit of €68 million as net sales decreased by 4.1% to €1,521.4 million. The company had finished 2023 with a small operating loss of €7 million, largely due to impairments and other special items.
