Swedish e-commerce grows again after two-year slump

Swedes buy more online again, PostNord report finds

E-commerce in Sweden recorded full-year growth in 2024, following two years of declines, with the pharmacy, clothing and footwear and home furnishings sectors all performing strongly throughout the year.

The insights come from PostNord’s 2024 E-barometer, which has revealed that e-commerce turnover in Sweden in 2024 hit SEK 140 billion (€12.5 billion), up 5% from SEK 133 billion (€11.8 billion) in 2023. E-commerce now represents 14% of total sales in the country.

The positive full-year figure is the first since the pandemic year of 2021 and the second highest turnover ever for e-commerce in Sweden. Looking ahead, 44% of e-retailers surveyed for the barometer believe that they will see stronger sales in 2025 than in 2024.
