A new report by Finnish postal operator Posti has revealed that domestic online stores and the recommerce market are driving e-commerce growth in the country, while lockers remain the preferred delivery choice among consumers.
The Posti E-commerce Index, which tracks e-commerce development in Finland through market analysis and consumer surveys, revealed that domestic online stores are more popular than international ones, and that the growth of recommerce continues in the country.
These two markets are helping to turn around the fortunes of the e-commerce sector, which has been declining in Finland in recent years.
“There have been a few downward years on the market, but in 2024, Posti parcel volumes turned back toward growth,” said Kaj Kulp who oversees Posti’s e-commerce services. “We believe that the same development will continue, and 2025 will be a year of growth in e-commerce.”
Product categories that grew Posti parcel volume the most in 2024 were pharmacy and cosmetics, goods trade, and clothes and shoes.
