A new report by New Zealand Post has revealed that online shoppers spent more money online in peak 2024, with the number of online transactions seeing double digit growth, while more shoppers chose to shop online rather than on the high street.
NZ Post’s e-commerce insights revealed that shoppers spent NZ$1.73 billion in October to December 2024 – up 9% on the 2023 peak period. The market also saw a record number of online transactions made by shoppers.
“Shoppers made their money go further by buying more often, while spending less each time,” said Chris Wong, General Manager of Business at NZ Post. “The result was over two million more online transactions during Q4 2024 than Q4 2023, making this the highest quarterly level of transactions we’ve seen in the last six years.”
