DHL upbeat on trade, relaxed on tariffs

DHL Group remains confident about international growth opportunities this year even though trade is getting “more complex with more obstacles” due to new tariffs in the USA, China and elsewhere, according to CEO Tobias Meyer.

Despite challenging and changing business conditions, the German logistics group sees more opportunities than risks, he stressed at the group’s media presentation of its 2024 results last week.

His comments followed a dramatic few weeks for international trade with US President Donald Trump imposing high tariffs and changing de minimis regulations for imports from China, Canada and Mexico (with the latter two countries now postponed to April).
