Cut letter deliveries to weekly, says Posten Bring

Mailbox delivery could be reduced to just one day a week in Norway if Posten Bring’s proposal for letters reform is given the go-ahead by the government’s Postal Committee, which is currently exploring ways to modernise the universal service obligation in the country.

Posten Bring, the designated postal operator in Norway, submitted its consultation response to the Postal Committee’s report on the future of postal services last week. The post recommends that the country’s postal workers should deliver mail to the mailboxes of all residents one day a week.

The proposal also includes plans for customers to be given the option to choose a collection point for letters delivery if preferred and a doorstep delivery service for those over 75 years of age.

Posten currently delivers letters to all Norwegian mailboxes every other weekday.
