USPS agrees DOGE deal for 10,000 job cuts

The US Postal Service (USPS) has signed an agreement with Elon Musk’s government reform team DOGE and the General Services Administration to help the loss-making organisation address “big problems” – a move which could lead to thousands of jobs being cut.

In a letter to congressional leaders, the outgoing Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, who has been leading efforts to transform the USPS since 2020, said that the agreement will enable DOGE to assist the postal service in “identifying and achieving further efficiencies.”

He continued: “This is an effort aligned with our efforts, as while we have accomplished a great deal, there is much more to be done. We are happy to have others to assist us in our worthwhile cause.”
