UPS has enacted a new surge fee on all shipments from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau to the US, as the carrier aims to meet growing export demand from Asia while continuing to meet shippers’ needs for quality and timeliness.
With effect from Sunday, March 16, all UPS shipments from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau to the US will be subject to a surge fee of US$0.29 per pound, based on the shipment’s billable weight, and will be in place through March 29.
“Our goal is to ensure that we can continue to meet our customers’ shipping needs without compromising the quality or timeliness of service expected from us,” UPS noted on its website.
