Aussies spent a record amount on online goods in 2024, according to Australia Post’s 2025 Annual eCommerce Report, with Millennials driving growth and shopping on social channels gaining popularity.

The report found that Australians spent A$69 billion on online goods in the past year, up 12% year-on-year (YoY), with online spend outpacing in-store retail spend.

Overall, 9.8 million Australian households shopped online in 2024 (up 2.3% YoY), spending the most on online marketplaces (A$16 billion), food and liquor (A$13.6 billion) and fashion and apparel (A$9.6 billion).
