Ukrainian national postal operator Ukrposhta has responded impressively to countless Russian attacks on its post offices, vehicles and other infrastructure with rapid deployment of mobile alternatives while also quickly modernising and automating its operations and introducing new social services for vulnerable people.
Those were some of the highlights and key points from a memorable presentation by Oleksander Golosa, Ukrposhta’s deputy director of international operations, at the Leaders in Logistics Summit in Berlin last week.
“War is not an excuse”
Russia is deliberately targeting the postal operator as part of its attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, firstly with missiles, more recently with drones, with many facilities damaged or even destroyed, he made clear. “Our facilities are under attack. We normally lose 1-2 post offices a week,” Golosa admitted frankly.
“But Ukrposhta continues fighting, delivering, rebuilding. After three years of operating in a war, we have learned that war is not an excuse… it’s an opportunity to do more and better,” he declared resolutely.
