Finnish Posti improved its letter delivery times in 2024 despite industrial disputes and the implementation of a slower universal service obligation, according to its latest report to regulator Traficom.
The report revealed that of the domestic letters delivered in 2024, 95.3% (94% in 2023) arrived by the fourth day and 98.2% (97.6%) by the fifth day. According to the quality standards set out in the Postal Act, 50% of domestic letters must arrive by the fourth weekday from the day of deposit and at least 97% on the fifth weekday.
Posti noted that these figures consider the industrial disputes in December 2024 that affected the delivery speed of the letters in the form of a force majeure. The disputes saw several trade unions in Finland, including the Finnish Post and Logistics Union PAU and the Finnish Transport Workers’ Union AKT, strike over disputes with the Finnish government.
