Austrian Post has announced the expansion of its locker network in the southern state of Carinthia, with new stations being rolled out at convenient locations across the region, enabling the operator to be closer to customers.

The post revealed that in the next few weeks alone, new 24/7 parcel pickup stations will be deployed at 13 locations, bringing the total in the state to around 90.

Austrian Post expects that by the end of 2025, more than one million parcels will be processed via these lockers in Carinthia for the first time, meaning that every Carinthian will pick up or send an average of two parcels via a locker.

Flexibility and convenience

The expansion of the network in Carinthia was announced at the opening of the newest locker at the headquarters of Infineon Austria in Villach.

“Our goal is to ensure that Carinthian residents can receive their online orders at any time and at a location of their choice,” said Walter Oblin, CEO of Austrian Post.

“A successful example of our 24/7 expansion is the new post office at Infineon, where approximately 4,900 employees and surrounding households can pick up their parcels around the clock. A cooperation like the one with Infineon benefits everyone involved – the company, employees, and the post office,” he added.

Sabine Herlitschka, CEO of Infineon Technologies Austria, continued: “As one of Carinthia’s largest employers, it is particularly important to us to offer our employees the best possible support in their daily lives. With the new post office, we are creating an additional service that not only saves long commutes but also simplifies daily logistics.

“We are pleased to offer this practical service together with the post office and thus make another small contribution to the quality of life of our employees and our residents in Villach,” Herlitschka concluded.
