Air cargo levels steady despite uncertainty

Global air cargo levels are remaining steady in spite of uncertainty over tariffs, although experts are warning of the future impact of the US-led global trade war.

According to data from WorldACD, global air cargo rates and demand went up slightly in the second week of March, with Middle East and South Asia (MESA) the only major origin region registering a drop in tonnages.

Over the same period global airfreight rates were also on the rise despite the mixed outlook for trade and markets. According to data from TAC Index, the global Baltic Air Freight Index (BAI00) was up 2.3% week-over-week (WoW), leaving it ahead by 3.5% year-over-year (YoY).
