UPS has announced the launch of its new Global Checkout service, which has been developed to provide e-commerce customers shopping cross border with increased transparency on import fees.

UPS Global Checkout guarantees upfront the amount online shoppers pay in duties, fees and taxes, and aims to eliminate the frustration of unexpected costs at delivery.

UPS noted that the solution has been developed to help e-commerce firms grow their cross-border business across the world and tackle the ever-changing customs and taxes by streamlining international shipping.

The move could also help the carrier gain a larger share of the SME market, with smaller businesses needing more support with the complexity of the cross-border sector.

Global Checkout rollout

The new service is now available in 43 origin countries, delivering to more than 200 destinations worldwide, UPS noted.

With updates in near real time, UPS Global Checkout adjusts to policy changes, international tax laws, duties and tariffs, helping to avoid surprise costs and offering a positive delivery experience, the firm added.

According to UPS, it is the only global integrated carrier to offer a guaranteed landed cost solution for international shipping that is seamlessly incorporated into its shipping technology, transforming the shopping experience and offering complete transparency on costs.
