FedEx Brazil opens logistics centre near São Paulo

FedEx's new Cajamar centre

FedEx Express has opened a new logistics centre located in Cajamar, around 40km to the north-west of central Sao Paulo, with 50,000 sqm of operating space, making it the company’s largest location in Latin America.

The new location is also one of the largest logistics centres in the world with a ceiling height of 12 metres and Triple A standard, which qualifies the installation as one of the best in the market, according to the company.

Strategically located close to the Anhanguera highway, the new site is fundamental for the growth of the company's business in the country and for greater integration with the main economic centres in Brazil, in addition to important highways, ports and airports in the state of São Paulo.

On site, FedEx operates with 55,000 pallet positions and modern equipment to further improve logistics processes and work more quickly, especially to keep up with the growth of e-commerce.

The structure has 98 loading and unloading docks with a hydraulic platform, seven mezzanine floors to expand storage space, more than two kilometres of conveyor belts for picking (sorting and order preparation), packing (packing of orders) and shipping . It also has cutting edge technology and a modern security system.

Luiz Roberto Vasconcelos, FedEx vice president of operations in Brazil, explained: "The new Logistics Center in Cajamar reinforces the importance of the Brazilian operation for FedEx. It is yet another investment by the company in the continuous improvement of our services in a very strategic market. The result will be an even more efficient and customized service to our customers."

The new centre will unify the company's logistics operations located in São Paulo and the metropolitan region, in addition to strengthening the company's experience in logistics services.
