DHL Express to launch additional pre-New Year flights in Russia

DHL Express is planning to launch additional freight charters in Russia to ensure delivery of traditionally growing volumes of shipments during the pre-holiday weeks.

In order to provide the permanently high level of service during the peak period, DHL will introduce its own domestic charters between Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk. In addition, DHL Express is ready to launch supplementary international charters, operated by freighters able to carry up to 30 tons of cargo.

These measures will help to ensure that the whole volume of shipments traditionally increasing before the holidays is delivered on time. In December, the supplementary charters are expected to carry over 400 tons of shipments in total.

DHL Express has a daily cargo flight from Leipzig to Moscow with capacity for up to 27 tonnes. The company recently expanded capacity at its gateway at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport by more than 150% in a €10 million investment.

Anna Klinskova, Vice-President for Sales and Marketing, DHL Express Russia, said: "The pre-New Year period is traditionally very anxious and busy for our corporate customers, as well as for everyone in Russia. We understand the need to ensure the quick delivery of all shipments with permanently high service quality, so we have planned to enhance our capacity for December in advance. Being the leader on the express logistics market, we aim at satisfying our customers' needs by providing a high level of service with minimal transit time and taking the factor of seasonality into account.”

In Russia, DHL Express has a network of over 150 stations and a fleet of over 940 commercial vehicles to serve over 5 000 towns and cities across Russia in total.
