UPS has launched its cryogenic solution Temperature True Cryo in Europe offering its customers in the healthcare industry end-to-end product protection and enabling them to ship specimens in a cryogenic environment.
The new shipping solution complements the company’s temperature-sensitive portfolio in Europe. It uses Cryoport's leading-edge cryogenic containers, which allow UPS customers to use liquid nitrogen stored in dry vapour form to keep products frozen at -150°C for ten days during transit or storage. When meeting minimum volume levels, shipments can also be paired with UPS Proactive Response Secure, a financial protection service that provides coverage for the time- and temperature-sensitive shipments.
UPS Temperature True Cryo includes real-time tracking and intervention, which, when combined with UPS’s risk mitigation solutions and global network of control towers, will provide complete visibility for shipments at every stage of the supply chain journey.
"When products requiring cryopreservation are on the move, customers want peace of mind that their shipments are safeguarded, so bringing this solution to the European market was a logical next step as we continue to expand our best-in-class logistics services globally for the healthcare and life science industries,” Jan Denecker, Director of Healthcare Marketing & Strategy, UPS Europe, said.
“UPS Temperature True Cryo combines innovative packaging, 24/7 monitoring and intervention capabilities for the most critical time- and temperature-sensitive specimens across tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, gene therapy, biopharmaceutical research and reproductive health,” he added.
The most recent “UPS Pain in the Chain survey”, a global study that measures the top pain points in healthcare supply chain management, shows that product security, damage and spoilage continue to be the top issues for healthcare executives.
“The new UPS Temperature True Cryo service, along with UPS Proactive Response Secure, will add tremendous value to researchers, lab technicians and healthcare practitioners shipping often-invaluable specimens and samples requiring cryopreservation,” the company stressed.
The UPS Temperature True range offers broad storage, transportation and packaging services for products ranging from cryogenic to ambient, specifically tailored for companies in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries. These services are complemented by extensive regulatory expertise and a global network of 51 UPS healthcare-dedicated facilities.
