Amazon has expanded its express delivery service, “Prime Now,” in Berlin, Germany, with products from two local food retailers – organic food supermarket “basic” and the grocery shop “Kochhaus” available within one or two hours of ordering.
Basic complements the existing range of Amazon products available in Berlin with a variety of organic products, including fruits and vegetables, meat, dairy products as well as bread and pastries.
Kochhaus offers, in addition to gourmet food, a wide range of continuously changing cooking recipes and delivers the perfectly-portioned ingredients in a cooking set to customers, for example, farfalle with basil cashew pistou or grilled aubergines. The cooking set can be complemented with a suitable wine selection.
The two retailers complement the exising range of Amazon products on primenow.de which includes packaged fresh and frozen foods, beverages, electronics, books, clothes, toys and drugstore articles. All the products are available via the Prime Now service to Berlin-based Prime members paying €69 per year or €8.99 per month.
To use the super-fast delivery service, customers need to download the Prime Now app available for Android and iOS devices free of charge or go to the website primenow.de. They can check if the service is available for their delivery address, choose their desired products from basic, Kochhaus or the regular Prime Now range and a two-hour delivery time slot for free or a one-hour delivery for €6.99.
The available delivery times vary according to the retailer: basic offers delivery between 8am and midnight, Kochhaus – between 10am and 10pm. The minimal order value for Prime Now and at the shops of basic and Kochhaus is €20 per order.
“Prime Now stands for ultra-fast delivery of products of daily use. With these two retailers, customers have even more choice,” Kai Rühl, Head of Amazon Prime Now in Germany, said.
Ramin Goo, Managing Director of Kochhaus, said: "We inspire people and provide them with perfectly portioned ingredients they need to prepare a delicious, balanced meal. The fast delivery with Prime Now is a great option for our company to reach more customers quickly and increase our popularity.”
Stephan Paulke, CEO of basic, commented: “We want as many people as possible to benefit from our high-quality products, and with Prime Now we not only reach more customers than before but also offer special delivery options.”
