SingPost sees surge in parcel volumes in year-end peak season

Parcels surge at SingPost

Year-end online shopping bonanzas such as Singles Day (11/11), Black Friday and Cyber Monday fuelled a surge in parcel deliveries for Singapore Post during November.

SingPost’s courier subsidiary SP Parcels delivered more than 580,000 parcels locally in the month of November, a 24% increase compared to non-peak months and a jump of 25% year-on-year. Some 40,000 parcels were delivered on the busiest day.

To ensure customers receive their online purchases as quickly as possible, SP Parcels increased staff manpower by 20%. Courier working hours were also extended by two hours.

“Over the years, we have seen steady growth in parcel volumes as shoppers go online for the best deals during the festive season. These numbers represent just the tip of the iceberg, as eCommerce continues to grow in Singapore, as well as the wider Southeast Asian region,” said Freddy Chang, Head of SP Parcels.

“With the latest in last-mile logistics hardware and software, the most extensive delivery network in Singapore, as well as an exemplary team of hardworking and dedicated staff, we stand ready to fulfil customers’ last-mile needs as they ride the eCommerce wave,” he concluded.
