Interview: Metapack reflects on a costly peak season

The 2024 peak season saw moderate growth in parcel volumes and average basket values globally, according to new Metapack data, but delivery delays and lost shipments cost the retail and logistics industries millions of pounds – a figure that could have been reduced through better data and a bigger uptake of PUDO options.

Insights into the 2024 peak season were provided by Emma Clarke, Senior Director of Product Management at Auctane, the parent company of Metapack, last week at The Delivery Conference in London. Clarke presented Metapack’s key insights from peak 2024, drawing data from the more than one billion global shipments and 15 billion tracking events it processes annually.
