Some 170,000 employees of DHL Group’s Post & Parcel Germany division will get a 5% pay rise and additional holiday under a two-year collective agreement with the Verdi trade union that follows a series of warning strikes in recent weeks.

The German mail and parcel workers will receive a 2% increase as of April 1, 2025, and a further 3% rise on April 1, 2026. In addition, they will get one additional day of annual holiday, along with a second day for staff who have worked for the company for more than 16 years.

Warning strikes

"This is a decent result that could not have been achieved without the pressure and the high willingness of our members to strike," said ver.di deputy chairwoman and chief negotiator Andrea Kocsis.

Tens of thousands of Deutsche Post and DHL workers took part in various one-day warning strikes in recent weeks to put pressure on the company to improve its previous offers. These led to large volumes of letters and parcels being left unsorted or undelivered across Germany.
