Skroutz Last Mile rolls out 1,000 SwipBox lockers in Greece

Danish parcel locker company SwipBox has revealed that its partner in Greece, e-commerce firm Skroutz Last Mile, has now rolled out 1,000 lockers in the country to improve delivery quality and speed.

The two firms started working together in March 2022, when Skroutz installed 100 lockers – named Skroutz Points. The firm has now installed 1,000 lockers in Athens alone, according to SwipBox. Skroutz Last Mile is now ready to roll out the solution to other cities in Greece.

Fast deployment

The lockers being installed are SwipBox’s battery-driven Infinity solution, which can be deployed anywhere in just 10 minutes, according to the company.

“With the Infinity locker, we don’t have to choose between quality of service and efficiency. We can deliver both,” said Stefanos Katsimpas, Business Director at Skroutz Last Mile.

“Our focus is on providing excellent service when it comes to delivering goods through e-commerce. Things move fast in the world of online shopping, and we need to be adaptable. That’s why we went with the Infinity parcel lockers, which can be installed anywhere in just 10 minutes, allowing us to scale our network when needed. It doesn’t get more flexible than that,” Katsimpas continued.

“It’s been an extremely exciting and educational process for us to work with a partner that owns the whole customer journey from e-commerce to parcel delivery,” added SwipBox CCO Kasper Cort.

“We were excited to see how our lockers fare in Greece, which is such a different market from the Nordics. What we’ve seen so far is impressive. In fact, with 1,000 lockers installed in one year and with eight out of 10 customers who have used the locker continuing to do so, the numbers speak for themselves,” he concluded.

SwipBox growth

Alongside the Greece rollout, SwipBox has been working hard to improve its service offering in recent months. In February of this year, for example, the firm announced the launch of a new service, which enables its customers to lease, rather than buy, its Infinity parcel lockers.

And in late 2022, SwipBox launched a new 10-year battery guarantee for all new lockers delivered from November 2022 onwards. Existing lockers already deployed are not covered by the guarantee.

To date, SwipBox has installed around 30,000 self-service parcel lockers, mostly in Europe, but it has plans to “conquer” the US market, with parcel lockers “still a rare sight” in the country, according to Cort.
